The Sustainable Hebron (formerly Climate Smart) Task Force is pleased to be bringing back its Repair Café to the area. Following the successful Hebron-Salem Repair Café in April, we have planned a second event on Saturday, October 19th from 1 pm to 4 pm.

What can you bring? Our volunteer Repair Coaches will try their best to fix broken household items, including mendable clothing and textiles, stuffed animals, jewelry, leather goods, lamps, small appliances, electronics, power tools, small furniture, and toys. We may also be able to handle simple computer and phone repairs. If you have any questions about what you can bring, email the address above.

If you know what parts are needed, please bring them with you to save time. The main criterion is that you can carry the item, and guests are expected to stay and perhaps learn how to make repairs themselves while enjoying a cup of tea or coffee.

Are you good at fixing things? The Hebron-Salem Repair Café is also looking for residents with different skills who are handy in making repairs and would enjoy sharing their knowledge with their neighbors. Want to sign up as a volunteer? Send an email to [email protected] and put “Repair Coach” in the subject line.

Why is this important? Repair Cafés are a fun way to reduce how much stuff goes into the waste stream, preserve traditional repair know-how, and pass on those skills to others.

Sustainable Hebron is grateful to the Hebron United Presbyterian Church and the Hudson Valley Repair Café for their help and support in organizing our second Hebron-Salem Repair Café.
